Lake Atitlan
As you all know, our lives sometimes become frantically
busy.
It’s stressful relating to many different people
in
different languages.
We need to get away once in a while.
Every year the English speaking missionaries in
Guatemala
have the opportunity
to attend a missionary conference for renewal and relaxation.
The conference is held in a luxury hotel with
wonderful food.
Service teams come with subsidy funds to keep our
costs down.
The service teams provide hair care, manicures, and massages.
This year an eye doctor offered his services. Teams comes
for
child care, youth activities, worship, and counseling.
Consider coming on a
service team next year!
138 families attended this year, 118 children,
and a
service team of 70.
The topic this year was Thriving Through Tough Times
which
we needed after a stressful month
of dealing with many
difficult things.
The speakers were worldwide travelers,
Lareau and Evie
Lindquist,
founders of Barnabas International.
Jenna and Geoffrey Haynes,
new missionaries working in our area, traveled with
us.
We stopped at a mall for our noon meal.
What a lovely display of orchids
It’s great to have others around to take our picture!
On the way to Lake Atitlan where the conference was
held
we spent an overnight with Drew and Cindy Metcalf,
who are working with orphan children near Guatemala
City.
Galen with Drew Metcalf.
The Metcalf’s woodstove warmed us on a cool morning.
Early morning views from our hotel window
Beautiful blends of blues from this deck
We returned home refreshed and renewed.
Beautiful photos. We hope to join you all there next year! We want to meet the new couple. Maybe we can get up that way soon. Miss you both!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad someone ministered to and served you both. You serve others so many times.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
