Several months ago during a visit with the
Chamelco congregation,
they were planning for a campana,
weekend evangelistic meetings.
We encouraged them at that time to pray for their
community
and invite unsaved neighbors to these meetings.
They invited us to join them for these meetings this
weekend.
The deacons called to our attention that the services
would be
broadcasted on a Chamelco radio station. They asked to let
their North American missionary friends know that they
could listen to these service on internet.
We sent out the notice and invitation to former
missionaries.
What a beautiful decorated wall!
Red paper covered the painting in the front of the
church.
Bienvenido means Welcome
Health promoter Santiago Tot serves well as a deacon.
Pastor Sebastian Ical, a widely used evangelist, from
Semesche
shared the messages during the weekend. Sebastian called us on
his way to church to ask if he could use the shower
in our house.
The two hour ride from his village on the
back of a truck
left him quite dusty.
We were glad to offer Sebastian a refreshing stop and a
ride.
What a touching scene to see the members of the
congregation
come front and warmly greet the couple who had just
believed.
Obviously the congregation had been visiting and
inviting others.
At the end of the meeting each person received a cup
of coffee
in a styrofoam cup and a tamale as they left the
church.
Sunday afternoon we had an unexpected call from
three
membersof the new mission in Chicuis.
They needed a place to stay overnight.
God called us to encourage them in their faith for
unjust
treatment they had faced.
We took them to the campana.
When we arrived at the campana, Sebastian prayed for
these
new believers.
The campana lifted their spirits.
A much larger crowd gathered on Sunday night.
We were delighted to see the women students from
Bezaleel
in the meeting.
They warmly greeted Phyllis as she had just
been with them
Sunday morning to give a Bible study.
At the closing prayer in the evening many of the
members
of the congregation poured out their hearts to God.
