Polochic Missions Visit

Galen accompanied several Kekchi leaders to visit
and encourage the six missions in the Polochic Valley.

In preparation they spent concentrated time in
daily prayer for God’s leading on the trip.
Galen especially cried out to God
to send workers into His vineyard.

Last minute Galen contacted Rodrigo Perez, the former Kekchi
missionary who had worked with the missions to go along.
Rodrigo had been praying for these missions that morning
and wondering when he might get back to visit them.
He had been prepared by God to change his plans and go along.

This young child was in the hospital for meningitis
within the last year.  Phyllis had visited them in the hospital.
God touched their lives during that difficult time.
How exciting to see the father, Alfredro, now serving as a pastor.
A lovely growing child completely healed.

The group spoke strongly with a couple who had fallen into sin
and placed a road block in the lives of many new Christians.
They confessed their wrong actions and will visit
to try to restore broken relationships.

The group had time to visit the town of Senahu that seven years
ago had been damaged by a landslide killing 22 people.
A new chapel was built at the end of the street.
Vendors selling along this road were quickly trapped
in the landslide.  The mountain is still unstable and
another landslide might happen in the future.
People there live with this reality.

Brother Pedro, pastor at Pueblo Viejo, told the story of
how he had been bitten by a very poisonous snake.
He was alone working in the fields at the time.
The first thing he did was to cut the wound so it bled well.
Within minutes he was spitting up blood.
The doctor told him that people don’t survive
such a snake bite.  He praises God for his complete healing.

During their visit to the last church on Sunday morning,
they were surprised to find brother Martin Pop,
a leader from the Tucuru area, who had been led by God
to also visit that church.  Together they sensed that God
was leading them to a future supervisor of these churches.
God had answered Galen’s prayer and sent a caring
‘Barnabas’ to encourage the churches.
For the past several years Martin has been raising up a
new mission in a village close to his home.
He has successfully mentored another leader there
and is now ready for another assignment.
Martin is a strong encourager and has reached out
continuously to help new missions.
It is amazing to see God calling out his workers
in ways that go beyond our plans and imagination.
