Flooding at Sayixche

After nine hours in a road block, we got to Sayixche late in the evening.
We had to drive through water to get on the ferry.
It was dark by the time we crossed the ferry.
The man who took our fare warned us that we would have to drive
through water for the next four kilometers.
He told us, “Follow that big truck he knows the way.”
We had no idea how deep the water would be and were so glad for our guide.
The big truck was a buffer and guide through the deep waters in the night.
God had taken care of us.

After several more hours we got to the Calvario mission in Santa Elena.
We dropped off the Kekchi Bibles and study materials they had asked us to bring.
They graciously provided us free lodging for all the trouble we had met that day!

Several days later on our return trip from Belize
we thankfully noted that the water level had gone down.
We took pictures of the flooded area in daylight.
Houses flooded
A store under water
Crossing on the ferry
This road caved in from the water saturation.
God protected us in our travels.
Thank you for praying for our safety.
