Over
the weekend temperatures dipped into the 40’s, but
we
saw barefooted children running
around
on the cold cement floor at church.
We
saw how the family stays warm at home.
Huge
logs are put into the fire so the children
can
sit near the fire to keep warm,
or
they stand near the cooking fires.
The
family has plenty of corn stored for making
their tortillas
We
attended the church in Secaj to plan with
the
leaders for a health team’s visit to their area.
They
took us to a neighboring community, Caarnila
that
will be the center for the health team.
Sebastian
and his family live in Caarnila
They walk
an hour to attend the church in Secaj.
There
is no evangelical witness in Caarnila.
For
two years Sebastian’s family have faithfully
attended
the Secaj Mennonite Church. Now the
leaders
from Secaj are walking to Sebastian’s
community
and giving services. A new mission
is
being birthed.
Galen
talking with Sebastian.
What
a privilege to pray with this family.
On
Tuesday we planned a trip with the women leaders
to
Seabas that required three hours of traveling.
We
saw men unloading huge barrels of water
from a
truck for spraying the coffee plantation.
Quite
inventive! It worked!
The
road zigzags up the mountain with many hairpin
curves.
On the
return trip we heard of the death of a founding leader,
Jose,
in the Chiyaxut congregation. We took
the time to
visit
the family. They requested a family picture
next to the coffin.
