We heard that we had an hour’s walk to a new mission but didn’t know the height of the mountain we would be descending and later climbing.
The day was beautiful for the hike, but the mountainous path was muddy from the two previous days of rain.
We chose the driest part of the path which is the edge. In the distance is a slight glimpse of the Sesalche village where we left our car. We used our umbrellas as a cane to steady our feet on the slippery path.
Thankfully this little helper carried our sleeping mats.
Clouds covered the mountain and a mist sprinkled us. Through the mist notice a corn field in the distance.
Evangelist Sebastian Ical, his family, and several deacons from his church accompanied us on the visit.
At times finding a solid footing was difficult.
Approaching a hand made bridge made from local materials.
Glad for hand rails.
Beautiful view below.
Big brother had to help scared little sister across.
Views of the river from a distance.
Sun shining above the clouds in the distance.
We needed to descend into that deep valley and climb the mountain on the other side to return to our car. Darkness fell upon us and we took one step at a time with the aid of flashlights. It was a hard trip, but an important one to bring encouragement to the new believers and communicate with community members.
When we retuned from our L_O_N_G trek back to the car we discovered a flat tire on our car. Later when Galen had it checked out no leak could be found so someone had left air out of the tire while we were gone. We praise God for the strength he gave us.
How interesting! and what a beautiful long walk that was! I praise God for you both and for your faith that carries you through a rough journey now and then. With Love, Nancy
