Trip to Belize

Beautiful blooming flowers in Belize.

Friday noon we traveled by bus to Orange Walk, Belize to visit with Nancy Marshall.  Nancy started a church for the deaf and planned a baptism for two of the youth who recently believed.  We wanted to attend this baptism.
In the church service several youth led in singing, all done by signing, without a sound.
Manuel choosing a song sheet for the song that he will lead.

Sulmi choosing her song.

Singing together.

The older deaf woman, fourth from the left, never had the opportunity to learn to sign.  As a child she was beaten by some older boys at school and never returned.  She cried as she shared with Phyllis her life’s story of abuse and loneliness.  Now she has found a community and hope in God.

Manuel telling the story of Jesus’ baptism.

A view of the pool from where we sat.

Edger shared his testimony

Alejandro telling his story

Nancy asking questions to confirm their action of faith.
Alejandro’s mother came to see her son baptized.  She is raising seven children alone.
Mother and sister watching on.
Welcoming the new baptized members of the church
