Improvements in transportation help us get to communities, but construction is often a slow process taking months and sometimes years to finish. During the rainy season road conditions worsen because of road blocks caused by land slides. Road maintenance is often neglected making travel a slower progress. Phyllis traveled standing for an hour on the back of a truck the other day with the women leaders as there were no other vehicles traveling along that road at that time.
This is a road in construction from Campur to Chajmaic.
Large cuts through the mountains are completely changing the environment.
A narrow path
A view of the Chajmaic valley in the distance.

A better view
The rough roads caused a problem to the springs of the car, but Galen got it fixed without much delay.
On one of our trips we didn’t want to hear the road man saying, “Sorry folks, you’ve got to wait another half hour.” We had already waited three times for construction on that trip.
We praise God for safety in travel as we visit churches in Kekchi communities to worship with them and to encourage and strengthen the leaders. Thanks you for your prayers for our safety.
