Family Time

Tim sharing a song at the pastor's service.

Rose helping to pat tortillas

Gabriel checking out what they're cooking.

Standing at the entrance of the Sejol church who's members decorated the church for us.

Praying at the beginning of the service as is the custom in the Kekchi Mennonite Churches.

Tim and his childhood friend Julio Tzul Caal tuning up the guitar.

TJ was excited to get some doves as he saw other children grabbing them.

Those tamales tasted so good!

Sunday, August 9, the day of our 40th wedding anniversary, we attended a church where one of Tim’s former playmates, Julio Tzul Caal, is pastor. Tears came to our eyes when we saw how the church had been decorated for us with pine needles on the floor and greens hung on the walls. Crepe paper streamers flowed as doves hung on them with a hand written note, 40 anos de matrimonia Galeno y Felicia. Everyone in the church got served hot chocolate and a tamale after the service, the typical way Kekchi communities celebrate a special occasion.
